Just some casual doodles of a birb and Chu-ge while I test out some new procreate brushes.

For Chu-ge I was trying out some chalk and charcoal brush types. I do feel like the brush got the roughness of chalk and charcoal nicely!


For the birb I was testing out some oil painting brushes.  I used to oil paint a lot but after I had the kiddo I was too worried about the solvents so I put them away, but this brush type wasn't bad!

The rough look of the chalk and charcoal brush is SO GOOD for Chu Shuzhi here! I love ALL the different ways you've drawn him but this kinda rough look works really well for him. (Unless Changcheng turns up, in which case he will be look soft and tender when he imagines no one's looking.) I also like how introspective he looks here! Like he's thinking about something very serious.

The birb!!! It looks so real, like it's about to fly off the page!!! *clapping*
